Hello, Neocities! This is officially the first entry on my personal site's blog.
I've been thinking about making this site for a long time, but finally got off my arse and did something on Neocities. You know, something personal, like a digital veneer into the many facets of my soul.
It was actually remarkably easy! Good thing I've worked with plain HTML and CSS before. Neocities's interface is fairly helpful, simple, and unobtrusive. The site itself needs no JavaScript (except for setting up the navigation bar in the header, but that's a small price to pay for deduplicating boilerplate).
Dear future employer: while these pages aren't exactly 'professional style' or 'material' or whatever, that's
intentional. These pages have a different goal—they're personal pages, not my
professional portfolio. If anything, the fact I master multiple 'design voices' should be a plus!
(also, quit nosing around people's personal stuff, it's rude! :p)
As to what I did today, well, I've been fairly busy working on my site!
I upgraded the styles even more, adding a bunch of shadows, card-style visuals in the projects ("Cool stuff") page, and even highlighted some of the project cards!
I also set this google font, Oxanium, throughout all of the site. It looks clean but techy, because it's a rounded sans-serif font. I think it's a good match, though it is certainly subject to change. Stay tuned!
I've heard that I should set up a RSS feed for my site, but I have absolutely no idea how to do that. For the time being, you should follow on my updates through my Mastodon. Oh yeah—if you haven't already, join Fedi! It's where the cool kids party now :)
Apart from all that, these last few days have been a bit slow and, frankly, sedentary. I've been wary of that. I'm heading to the clinic on the 14th this month, so maybe I'll be able to re-evaluate my fluoxetin dose, or get a dopamine reuptake inhibitor proper to go alongside it or something. But I've been mindful of my sleep and diet, so don't worry, I'll be alright.
That doesn't mean I haven't been doing anything! I have been working on a few different projects.

My machine learning experiments (Stigma Propagation), though promising, have so far come up on a dead end. But I don't think this is an issue with the concept of Stigma per se; just a bit of a complication when using spiking neural networks.
It's not that they're non-differentiable; the local learning rule I use shouldn't rely on differentiation. It's more so that their signals are so sparse, hard to measure over time, hard to finetune (hyperparametrically) because of the previous two reasons, and also prone to dead neuron syndrome.

I made a tiny random question generator / party game mini-app type thingy, as a subpage! It's called Wouldya.
Basically, it picks two halves of a question randomly from two decks, CAH-style, to form a full question; the answer needs to be at least two sentences; and the answerer may redraw the second part (the activity) anytime if they feel uneasy. Once they answer, they get to be the next asker.
This miniapp does only the rolling part, but it's neat. It was also satisfying CSS / web design practice, though I still need to get the mobile support down just right. Ahh, I'll get there!
Apart from that, yeah, haven't done very much. Fine, you got me! Yeah, I'm a lazy wallaby sometimes.
...
Well, I did play Re-Volt yesterday. That was fun.
